2001 XC70 parking brake

How do I adjust the parking brake cable on this 2001 XC70 to allow me to install new shoes for the parking brake?

Today I checked my parking brakes. I noticed recently that the lever was stiffer. It had a wrong feel.

Look at what I found

Left wheel shoes

New part number for replacement

The car has only 75,000 miles. The cables weren't seized or partially frozen.

By comparison I changed my shoes at over 150,000 miles on the old S70.

I think it is important to verify it regularly.

Not taking care of it can be expensive since the hub assembly has to be changed when the aluminum block beside the expander breaks.

I am glad it could be repaired for 75$ .

Mine didn't delaminate but the aluminum block did break. It was he biggest auto repair I ever did myself.
