Front end improvements

Post by S60UT »

I understand the P2 S60 is known for having a soft front end. But my S60 feels so soft compared to my BMW E46 touring. I have replaced lower control arms, sway bar end links and installed the IPD sub frame inserts. New struts and associated hardware to be purchased next. What have you guys done to improve the stiffness of your front ends. The steering seems so soft and sensitive like it wants to dart off the road. Is there any steering lash adjustments on these cars ?

Your other car might be causing a bias.
I'd try to find someone who knows how volvo's handle or pay a mechanic to assess the front end.
Mine was vague feeling, turned out to be soft tires and control arm bushings were shot.
I have those IPD sub frame bushings but the car doesn't feel like it needs them now.
Any slop in the tie rod ends?
Is the PS fluid decent?

Do you have the entire subframe bushings or the inserts?

New front sway bar from XC90, new rear sway bar from V70R or S60R. Without rear sway bar it doesn't feel firm at all.

Also adjustable rear toe rods from IPD would help to set near-zero thrust angle, which is IMO impossible with stock rods.

I got blue inserts with some sort of lube. Never got around to installing them, can't find them anyway.
