2004 S60R Wheels.

Post by RickHaleParker »

Does anybody know which 17" wheels other then the Pegasus will clear the R calipers?

I tried my 17" Canisto, they clear the sides but not the front of the calipers.

Planning to go to the LKQ pick-your-part in the next couple of days. Need something to put on the car until I determine if the engine is fixable.

I'll have a complete set of 16" Eurus up for sale shortly after. Fitted with Firestone Affinity 215/55R16.

I have a set of Thor 17's I can try w/R calipers tomorrow.

I read a post by Jimmy57 once that pretty much stated Peg's were necessary to clear the calipers, if doing R caliper upgrade to a non-R P2. I've always been curious though.

Any attempt to find a solution would be helpful.

The Canisto bolted on but the caliper was poking through the spokes.

If you find 17" Thors fit, I currently have a set on an '06 V70 that I'm looking to swap for something smaller. PM if you have any interest.

I assumed you were interested in finding Volvo 17's VS aftermarket.
What I can tell you is neither Thor's nor Tethys will fit. You could probably get Tethys to fit with spacers. The Thor's would be a really tough fit; possible on rear with 8-10mm spacers but the fronts I truly doubt it.

Even on the 17" Peg's w/R calipers I have rub marks on the "top" face of the front calipers due to poorly placed sticky weights.

I also have been interested in stock wheels (17's or 18's) that would clear R calipers.

I was reading this thread a couple weeks ago on SS. Some pricey stuff in there, but a few neat looking setups all things considered.

Most of them are 18, 19 or 20". That indecates more sucess with bigger wheels.

I would rather have 17" so I can keep some meat on the bone.

Plucked two 17" out of the list.

Make: Tire Rack's Sport Edition ~ $140.26 each.

Size: 17" x 7.5"
Offset: ET40
Color: Silver (thin, cheap paint). Plastidipped them black.
Spacers needed?: No, but removal of the screw that holds the brake rotor in place is required.
Link to site: Tire Rack Sport Edition F7
Tires/Size: 215/50R17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS70
Does it rub?: No
Notes: OP said ~ 3mm clearance between wheel and caliper. Picture shows ~ the width of a measuring tape.

I’ve been after a set of 17” Arraki’s for some time now. I had a set agreed upon for $250 but they disappeared. I love the elegant look of them on V70’s but know I’ll hate cleaning them.

If I come across another set I’ll test them with R calipers.

If I remember correctly the last set of wheels posted in the SS link were very attractive & required no spacers.
