1995 850 turbo tools question for intake manifold removal

Post by w5bvb »

I've seen several mentions of use of 1/4 in. sockets, universal
joint, and "long" extension required for removal of the intake
manifold. Can someone tell me how long of an extension is
needed? I have the universal and sockets and two extensions,
one 3" and one 6". thanks, Phil

You should be good to go with those extensions. The only one that will be a problem will be the one on the far left hand side of the manifold as you are looking at it from the front.

I stack two 6" extensions and remove the swivel joint to get to that nasty bolt by aiming in between the power steering hoses. Keep in mind that the lower bolts don't need to be removed to get the manifold off. You can loosen them about 1/4" and just lift the manifold off since the bottom holes are slotted.
