When my radio is on AM I get static everytime I go over a bump, tar strip, or hit the dash. Anyone have any idea what this issue is?
Thanks

Antenna can be disconnected or bad connection from the rear of the radio- check there first. AM is always tenuous on all of our Volvo's. Could be the spark plugs you're using too. I know there's a way to add and antenna amplifier, but others would know more about that than me. I just don't listen to AM unless I have to.

it sounds fine when the vehicle is not moving. So nothing to do with the spark plugs ( I only use Volvo OEM) and if I am on a smooth stretch of road it is fine. Whether engine on or off, if I tap the dash I hear the static. I will check the connections and see if this helps, Danke.

You have a bad commection or a bad ground somewhere.
Hopefully it's in one of the antenna connections and not in the chassis of the radio itself.
Someone needs to remove the radio, remove, clean then re-connect (tightly) the antenna plugs behind the radio.
If that doesn't do it, you're sort of screwed as the radio will need to be repaired or replaced.
If this was an S60 there is this brass strip dealers install for AM reception but it's usually not the case with V70's
