If you mean, how do you get the entire ashtray ("drawer" and assembly) out of the console......

In my S70 and V70 you first open the ash tray. This exposes two screws on each side at the rear of the assembly that must be removed. You'll need a light to see them up under there. There is also a tab at the top around where the ash tray light lens is but if I recall correctly, the ash tray "drawer" and assembly will just slide straight out after the screws are removed. I can't say if it's the same for your 850 but I suspect so.

Anyway, if that is not what you are referring to, then.............uh...never mind. :)

Thank you very much C@lvin.
That's exactly what I needed to know  .
I saw some of these for sale on ebay tonight and was wondering how to access the screws for those two wholes that are seen on each side, but now I know 8) .

Thanks again.

By the way ddpphx, you are talking about a "copper coil" but this is just about impossible :!: .
I mean for this coil to be made of copper.
It must be made of some steel alloy.

It is the spring for you ashtray. It is what allows the ashtray to be pushed and then pop out.
