I've got a 2004 ford escape with a blown engine here in Des Moines. Girlfriend's car. I need some serious advice on if to drop a new engine or dump the car.

Thanks.
Are you a mechanic or dealer in Des Moines?

Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Don't understand your question Are you a mechanic or dealer?
I just say this If you sell it with a blown engine what ever that would cost to have installed plus the cost of a engine needs to be deducted from your asking price. I don't know what you situation is as far as if it financed or not but if it is your probably going to loose your ass if you sell it without the new engine. What will a used engine from a salvage yard run you and whats the labor from a average garage going to be.
Then what do you owe on it?

It's been resolved. Looks like it's going to be covered by an extended warranty, luckily. It's going to get a re-manufactured engine installed by a Ford dealer.
When I posted earlier I didn't know that, and I didn't know what we were going to do.
The warranty claim could have been denied because we were late with one oil change on the car.
