2004 and up S80 transmission type?

I was once told that the S80 prior to 2004 model uses a GM transmission that's often problematic.

So does that mean all S80 starting from the 2004 models have better transmission?

Anyone?

All S80's with the 6 cyl. engine use the GM trans 4T65EV or 4T65EV-GT up to -06. The only difference between the two is gear ratio. All 05- S80's use only the 4T65EV-GT.

The 2.9 and T6 use the 4 speed. Problematic.

The 2.5T has the 5 speed, which is a good trans!
