wiper relay?

does anyone know how to test an 86 760 turbo windshield wiper relay? it has 6 "pins", two parallel rows of three. thanks

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The easiest way to check any relay is to replace it with a known good one. However, it is possible to check relays with a multimeter. Some manufacturers put a diagram or pin identification on the casing but, with a multimeter you can determine which pins do what without the diagram.

This shows how to test a 4 pin relay but the principle is the same for an 8 pin: Relay testing. To skip how a relay works and get down to the actual testing start at page 14.

On this subject...does a 1990 240DL have a wiper relay?

It has an intermittent wiper relay and a headlight wiper relay.
The '90 is the same as the '92in the attachment.
