Labor cost spark plugs s70

Heck, where do you live in the midwest so I can open a shop there? It'll be for spark plug replacement only!

Ok- so I'm back..... Firstly, thank you all very much for your input regarding the spark plugs labor cost. The mechanic/owner covered his badonkadonk by stating on the receipt the labor cost included -installation and test driving etc...(yes, 'test driving' from the garage outside to the parking lot)- all the extras he can use to justify the cost. Needless to say, in hindsight, I have since heard he's not high on many's list due to his astronomical prices so water under the bridge. BUT and my other reason for writing- since the installation, my car doesn't feel like it's got the pick up it used to have and I was wondering if the AC Delco's (I originally handed him my new Volvo plugs from fcpgroton, however found out my GLT meant 'Turbo' which I never knew)-so he went to the local Advanced Auto parts and purchased AC Delcos ( I believe platinums). Between the plugs and the new MAF (my purchased part) the car doesn't respond like it did even with a bad MAF. It used to rocket.
Any thoughts out there? very much appreciated.....

glt is non-turbo
glt is leather etc...

sounds like the volvo plugs were for your vehicle
I go to an Indy once in a while because he will use my internet parts....

GLT was N/A before model year 1997. In '97 onwards GLTs were outfitted with a low pressure turbo (190hp), so turbo plugs are correct. Groupthink here at MVS regards platinums as a poor choice in turbos.

thank you for the responses- what plugs would you suggest for the turbo? I am unaware of the type of plugs in previously which seemed to be fine. I might venture to guess they were the original as I bought the car w/ 21k miles in 2005.

Also, what is the reason groupthink doesn't like the platinums for turbo? just curious......

Hey Miles,
I am new on working on my Volvo (2001 V70 2.4T) and one of the first things I got accomplished was changing out my spark plug...very easy job indeed. It took me about 30 minutes and I used Champion Double Platinum plugs MFR# 7071, just about $30 and they have been working great (about 2,000 miles since I changed them). This website is great in getting the understanding on how to work on items like spark plugs yourself.

Thank you, E170_Driver, for sharing your experience. In hindsight I should have changed my own plugs (but then I wouldn't have found out about needing turbo plugs), however, I made the mistake of thinking the mechanic would simply change them out while he was already being paid for installing a 5 minute MAF job-which also is an easy diy job-. I would have done that myself as well but didn't have the testing equipment to check the meter-which he probably didn't either.....
you tube is fantastic for learning as well as this fantastic site.

Thanks for the site compliments, guys. It's fun to be around so many technically savvy people, and it's great to see people DIY and not ripped off by dealers. (Many dealers are good people, but the majority simply charge too much for parts and labor.)

Anyway, I got my OEM Volvo plugs from FCP (ad at top of page), literally in Volvo packaging. You can use any of those links though, they're all "vetted" constantly by members here.

Some say the OEM plugs are a certain Champion plug, but I don't remember for sure. The long and short of it is that they're dead simple plugs. Back when Champion still made the plugs listed in my 850 owners manual, they were maybe $2 each.

Search for topics here that explain why the platinums don't work as well (generally). I think I recall one going into detail.
