XC90 Reliability
XC90 Reliability
Looking really hard at the 2004 XC90 . Think I'll wait for the FWD coming out in May , since I would never need AWD . I know the XC90 has only been out for 5 months . What has been the initial impression on its reliability so far ?

I would have no idea on reliability but I just heard a report on low speed collisions and they found that it rated horribly for repair costs. This report had nothing to do with passenger safety (which they assumed would be fine) but just with how it compared with other luxury cars for body damage costs in little fender-benders. It rated worst among all the beemers, mercedes, lexus etc. and averaged $1,100 per repair on side, front, rear, and corner impacts. I sat in this rig at the dealer, and it is a beauty! I think volvo's in general are expensive for body work anyway so this report may not be anything new. I hit a deer with my '98 v70xc and it took out the plastic components on the front and wrecked the hood and one fender and it cost the insurance company $6,100 CAD to fix it. If I didn't have the right coverage at the time I would have been hooped! Nice chatting... ~Gerald

I would wait at least 2 years. Let the engineers fix all the bugs first.
Just my .02 cents.....
