V70 2.4T 2001 AC fan runs constantly

2 days ago we noticed that the AC/heater interior fan will run when the driver door is opened and then will turn off spontaneously 1 minute later. if we place the key in the ignition and start the car, the fan will run constantly and cannot be turned off. If we turn off the car, the fan will run for several minutes and then turn itself off finally.

we took it to our mechanic...and he had no idea. he recommended that we take it to the dealer.

any thoughts??

There was/is a recall on 2001 fans, was this done on your car?
(Check with Volvo)

so we took it to the dealer who said that it was the A/C control module that had a short and needed to be replaced. $1200 later we don't have the problem anymore.

I have to say.......this car has been a bit of a lemon since we purchased it used in 2003 with 18K miles on it. Power steering broke twice, window regulators x 2, throttle control x 1 --not covered by recall, etc.

anyway....appreciate your input.
