Stalling when cold start

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Stalling when cold start

Post by 537playing »

2001 S80
Replaced my fuel cap and now the car begins to stall when starting first thing in the morning. I have to give it more gas to prevent stalling. After it warms up, the car starts and never stalls. Before I replaced the new fuel cap, it was almost stalling but never did.
Is this an ETM issue or the fuel pump issue? I'm hoping its one or the other as they are both covered under the Volvo agreed extended coverage.
On occasion, the RPMs fluctuate when coming to a stop and idling. I have the original white label ETM but software updated. I also cleaned the ETM as well.
Can it be something else? I cleaned the MAF, new plugs, replaced fuel filter and air filter.

Check your vacuum lines for cracks. Take a can of carb cleaner and spray around the lines and look for surges. I had an old Saab that did the exact same thing in the mornings before it was allowed to warm up.

I only see one line that runs from the phlegm to the air box. Are there any other lines to look for?
