242 GT - 1980 - Engine issues/questions (Airbox/PCV/FlameTra

Post by sleazy_e »

Hey all,

I have an 80 GT that I bought from a guy who screwed with the engine bay. I've seen on many sources including Volvo manuals that say the GT cars have the PCV located on top of the valve cover, but my B21F doesn't have that cover (view photo).
Image - I think he may have sourced the current cover from a B21E (Only engine I've seen without the PCV on the valve cover) as I still have the airbox with the correct hose connection.

I'm also making the assumptions that he didn't know what to do afterward and cannibalized a PCV relocation kit from another car, as I have a hose coming from the bottom of the throttle body Image that goes to nothing that I am holding in the photo (in Volvo green books, this hose connects to a PCV/by-pass valve and the solenoid valve) with a plugged hose that connects to the idle control screw contraption.

My question is... if I buy an IPD relocation kit for an 81-82 K-Jet, connect the pcv to hoses I have and plug my airbox... will my car run okay?

It should run ok, but that is assuming that there are no other issues with the car. It is a tough call without seeing that car.
