'98 V70R - the roof lights won't come on with door open

I'm in my second week of ownership of my 211,000 mile, $3,200 black one previous owner V70R. The car is fairly nice, but does have a few minor issues. Yesterday I replaced the interior mirror and droopy visors with $20 of used 850 parts. I also installed $17 euro rails from Pick-a-Part. Last night I resoldered all the the joints in the ABS module. Today I'm trying to figure out why the courtesy lights won't come on with the door opening. The footwell and red door lights do come on. My guess so far is it's not the switch in the door. They do work with the switch by the mirror. Has anyone had this problem?

Did you pull fuse 15 when you replaced the visors? The wires to the vanity mirror lights are always hot. Normally not pulling the fuse results in none of the lights working and the door chime always dinging but check the fuse first.

I would say your problem is either with the switch on the ceiling light or with the delayed interior lighting / central locking / alarm relay.

Do you know where that delayed relay is located? The switch by the mirrow appears to be working.

On an 850 it is in the lower central electrical unit which is located to the left of the brake pedal, mounted high on the firewall just below where the fuse box is under the hood. I looked through the schematics and I can find the schematic representation of the relay (2/76) but the book doesn't call out the relay number itself.

Fortunately the relays are good about having their function printed on the side of them.
