Wipers won't park themselves

Hello All,
My wipers have decided that they need not return home when ask. I will turn the wipers off at the stalk and they will freeze at the exact position where I turned the stalk to the off position.

This was something I expected in my Old VWs, but not from a modern Volvo. What gives?

I would think that the park switch has developed a fault - not uncommon, even on Volvos.
