Hi All,
I'm in a bit of a quandry and am looking for others opinions on this...
I have a 2004 S80 T6 with almost 150k miles on it. Its been running great and has had regular maintenance. I drive about 45k miles per year so my concern is that I will likely have major issues in the near future. With that, I've found a 2007 S80 V8 AWD with less than 25k miles on it for a very good price and all the options I want. So my question is, given the current mileage of my 2004 and what I drive per year, which one would you go with based on your Volvo experience? Do I get what I can for the trade in and go with the newer car or end up getting almost nothing for trade in if I keep it and get another 50k+ miles out of it? Keeping in mind that the reliability factor needs to be high...
Thank you in advance for your opinion!!
J
Keep the '04 or Buy the '07?
Dear J,
First of all, I am probably not as tight with a nickel as you are, but I will give you the result of my experience any way.
In August of this year I purchased an 2007 S80- 3.2 six cylinder sedan with navigation, heated and cooled seats, satelite radio, and bi-lateral headlights. The sticker price was $23,750., with 49,000 miles on it. After crossing 50,000 miles, the trade-in value dropped by $2,000.
It has been my experience that when a car reaches 100,000 miles, it has value only to the original owner who thinks it is the greatest thing since his first girlfriend or to a dealer who wants to sell ir for parts or to a Dad who wants it for his 16 year old son but only wants to pay $1,500!
If your driving 45k a year, you obviously need a dependable car. Buy the '07 S80.
