Rear brake help

Post by 97Volvo850GLT »

I was told that I had to replace my rear brakes (rotors and pads) within the next couple months but on Friday the car started to vibrate a lot when braking (even at very low speed). Is this normal when brakes need replacing? Will it cause any damage to parts other than the rotors and the pads if I wait a week to replace them?

Anyone know of online sites I can buy these cheaper than at the dealer?

It would be more likely that it is front brakes that are the problem with vibration. Are your rear rotors rusty or grooved and is there a lip on the edge. Rust usually indicates sticking calipers that sometimes can be freed up. grooved and or a lip does probably mean that it is time for new rotors and pads. an easy DIY

Vibration means your rotors are warped. But if they need replacing anyway, all the more reason.

Brakes are easy to do on 850/70s.

Parts: try my sponsor (banner ad), ipdusa.com, and some others (Google for them). Get some prices. I'd stick with OEM braking parts.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Try eBay...I've seen alot of parts on there but have never done any price comparisons though.
