S60 2003 SRS airbag service urgent

Hi guys.I am a new member and i don t really know how to use the site.
I have got a message on the computer ( SRS airbag service urgent).At volvo dealers they told me i need to change the speedo which is 800£.I would like to ask you if i can use a second hand one,or needs to be new one? thanks very much.i will appreciate if you can give me some advice.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

You could use a second hand one but you would probably have to go to the dealer to have new software installed. They have you between a rock and a hard place.

That's weird that they would tell you that you need a new speedo because of the air bags. Did they explain how the two are related?

They checked all airbags and everything it is all right,what they say is that the computer does not read the information properly and i have to change the speedo

If I were you I'd get a second opinion.
