location of amplifier in 91 wagon

I want to know the location of the amplifier in my 1991 240 automaic wagon. Does anyone know where it is? In front, back?

I am trying to put a new radio in and the guy at the stereo shop looked at my wiring and said there is an amplifier and they would have to find it and bypass it.

Any help would be appreciated.

In origin, your car has as standard radio with just two speakers. If your Volvo 240 is equipped with 4 speakers the origin solution was an extra amplifier placed behind the existing radio. It is plenty of space behind there, so I can not see the problem for your expert to find it.
