740 GLE transmission problems

740 GLE transmission problems
i was travelling on the freeway moving right along when all of a sudden i lost all forward motion. engine runs strong but vehicle will not move at all in forward or reverse. please help, i love this car

its an automatic transmission, sorry so late in replying

Assuming the drive shaft is still attached at both ends it would appear that the box has developed a fault.
The first thing to check is the fluid level and condition. If the fluid is brown and smells of burning it needs to be changed. It should be red with no smell. If the colour/smell are OK but the level is low top it up and see if that cures the problem. The transmission fluid should be changed every 20,000 miles (32,000kms) on your car.
The attachment shows the possible faults that could be causing this. Unfortunately, apart from top up/flush; blocked strainer; shift linkage and kickdown cable adjustments you need specialist equipment.
