Steering Rack

Post by DCintraining »

Hello all my fellow Volvo Lovers,

I'm looking for the best place to find a rebuilt steering rack for my 1993 850GLT. I've seen them remanufactured by Maval, Biltron and TRW. Has anyone purchased any of these brands? Anyone know the cheapest place to purchase a rebuilt rack? I've found one for $224 at sweedishparts.net (with a $150 core).

Thanks for the help!

TRW is the original manufacturer of the majority of the steering components on the 850's. I don't know anything about the others, but remember, you get what you pay for.

I bought mine from the dealer, cost about $500. after core. I felt it was too much work to change on of these to take a chance on having a "bargain" rack not work properly. I have access to a lift and full assortment of tools, it was still a big job. Don't think I'd attempt it on the ground using only jackstands.
