2001 S40 Stange Electrical Problem
2001 S40 Stange Electrical Problem
My 2001 Volvo S40 does not have power to the alarm, remote door locks, interior lights or radio. The trip meter resets whenever I turn the car off as well. I am assuming they are somehow all tied together. Is there perhaps an inline fuse somewhere? I checked the fuses to the radio and it was fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This should be properly diagnosed to be sure, but I would guess that maybe the central electronic moduel is faulty. We have been selling more and more of those recently for the 00-04 s/v40's. The bad part is that it is not cheap. Part number for the 2001 is 30896697, and it is close to $550.00.

Nate76, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
I hope you were sitting down when you read MyVolvoPartsOnline's reply.
Have you checked fuses 8, 9 & 10 in the engine compartment fuse box? To be able to remove these fuses, you must first pull up the yellow fuseholder (transport fuse) by hand and then use the special fuse tool to remove the fuse. See page 93. Before you pull up the transport fuse holder, make sure that you know the radio code, since this code will be erased from the radio when pulling up the fuseholder.
Bill.

Thanks for the help Bill. I had already replaced those fuses. Apparently when I had put in the new fuses I did not press them in all the way. The transport fuseholder was in all the way but not the fuses. I pushed them in with a screwdriver and problem solved. Amazing it was such an easy fix. Thanks again for your reply. Take care.

Good to know you didn't have to part with $550.
Thank you for the update.
