Radio dead, any ideas?
Hi again gang... well my second and final problem so far with my "new" Volvo is a dead radio. I've checked all the fuses and they all seem to be in good condition. I've pulled the radio out, and everything is connected properly. I have power switched and constant. There is no display at all. No red security warning light flashing either. The lights come on when the parking lamps are switched on however... ANY ideas would be great!! I miss having a radio!!

If its an anti-theft radio (it will say so on the face plate) and you disconnected the power or removed the battery for any reason, then you need to punch-in a code. Go to your friendly dealer parts dept and ask him to access the Volvo database for your radios serial number shown on top when you pulled it out.

The radio is an anti theft radio. And I already have the code... but the problem is when I turn the radio on, there is NO display on the radio screen. NOTHING. There never has been a display. I know there is no problem with the wiring as I've swapped out my friends radio and put it into my car and it works fine... but my radio is either fried, locked up, or something else. I've looked at the radio circuit board and there is no sign of tampering or any bad connections or solder points. I've read that the radio may say OFF in the display, and if this happens you need to leave the key on for 2-3 hours to unlock the radio before a code entry attempt is permitted. WHAT DO I DO?!

...Is there ANY other way around a replacement?! Seems like there are an awful lot of radio problems with Volvo.

Well I went to the salvage yard yesterday and picked up a "new" radio from an S70. It's the SC-816 Cass/CD. Sounds decent... But its grey.
Thanks for the help.
