I have a 1997 960. Without breaking anything, does anyone know how to get at the light that illuminates the ash tray area in front of the gear shift? Thanks:!:

Loosen the square plastic frame around the zigarette lighter by carfully bending it out by a knife. Loosen the screew behind and take out the cig-lighter. In this unit you will find the lamp for lighter and ashtray.

Thanks for your reply. However, there doesn't seem to be access in the way you described. My 960 has walnut trim around the dash including the area arount the ash tray.
