Oh ok, that would explain why. I ALMOST wrote that, but stopped myself because I wasn't entirely sure. Klaus is a genius, and knows the answer to anything.

I believe the access for the fuel pump is under the rear seat on an S80, which makes it MUCH easier. I had to drop the tank to fix the one on my Honda, and it never was right since then.

Good luck!

I agree - Klaus really knows his stuff, I read many of his posts. Thanks again for the additional info. By the way, the fuel pump is replaced, what a job that was! And, it still wouldn't start....so $400 later and many scratched heads later we discovered....are you ready for this....some thief had stolen all my gas. And, I would have known that except I KNOW I had a half of a tank but the gas gauge flatlined (an intermittent elec problem) the night before on my way home before I parked it for the night so it never occurred to me that someone emptied my tank that very night, I just figured the gauge was still messed up. Can you believe it? That was the most expensive half tank of gas in history! Then again, the car was disabled for six days - perhaps I should just choose to believe they stole the gas AFTER the fuel pump went out. There, that feels so much better! :)

Here's the update on the stalling problem. I received the new MAF sensor yesterday and installed it. The car started right up and ran great!

Thanks again for all the help, it really makes a difference when working on these cars to be able to talk with people who have already "been there, done that".
