Hmm, your 740 became a 940, that's quick.

Unfortunately, my ignition lock replacement procedures require a key to turn the switch to position 1 or 2 to enable the release button to be pressed. Otherwise it is a drill or big screwdriver job.

However, a Volvo dealer should be able to make a key from the Vehicle Identification Number.
