Hi All
I need some help trying to figure out what is wrong with my 240 DL 1987.
Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't.
I can get in turn it over it starts I stop the car go in the store come back out and it will turn over but it wont start. I wait 20 minutes and try again and it starts.
First thing in the morning it wont start, couple hours later it will start.
It has nothing to do with weather the engine is cold or hot. It starts when it wants.
Please help! Thankx in advance!

You'd probably get more help over in the RWD section
BUT I had a same-vintage Saab that did the EXACT same thing, and it was a dying fuel pump relay. Next time it happens, try jumpering the leads on the relay and see if your car starts again.
It may also have a bad ground connection.

carisvolvo, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
I agree about the fuel pump relay. There are other things which can cause intermittent starting problems but check the relay first.
Your car isn't fitted with an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit so there won't be any codes stored. OBD wasn't fitted until 1989 for non-turbo cars and 1990 for turbo cars.
Bill.
