Bought a 2000 S40 from WeBe Autos on Long Island for $4,500--seemed a fair price. But then..... Within one week battery died and headlight adjusters turned out to be broken ($800); within less than 60 days, mechanics found a bad switch, the catalytic converter had to be replaced and rear springs were found to be broken. By the time I finished with repairs, I had paid almost $3,000 more for the care.
I reported these to WeBe Autos, whom I had thought I had bought the car from. Turns out he was a middleman for the actual dealer, and he never reported the problems to the dealer.
The sad part is the gentleman is very convincing about being an honest person, and had aan e-Bat weblisting that seemed to prove it with lots of positive feedback--yet right after I complained, he was no longer listed on e-Bay.
Beware!!!
