Hey guys I bought a 2000 S80 non turbo. The car didn't come with the remote however the alarm appears to work except for the horn (read the thread on the bad module). The problem is the dealer by me will charge 190 to diagnois then if they fix the problem I will have to pay for parts, a new remote and have the remote programed. I figured a third party alarm system would save $$ if I get someone to install. What would I need to install one. I was looking at a system like this.

I live in NYC and a alarm is necessary.

Before anything, you can try putting the key into the drivers door, and lock/unlock it 3 times. But chances are, the module is toast. I wouldn't bother getting diagnostics done on it because its almost promised that the module is dead.
It looks like you're gonna have to spend a little extra because the aftermarket most likely wont work. If your a DIY person, you can change the siren module yourself (https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 11&t=17479). But, Volvo still has to program the remote (~$160)
