Hi all can anyone help
I can run this car all day no problem but when out at night mainly now and then my temperature gauge will drop off the scale and my fan will start up . if i stop the engine fan still runs turn the ignition off then on and the gauge then goes straight to red and i get the usual stop asap message but the car is not over heating and no loss of coolant. if i remove the fuse for the ecu the fan stops and all is fine gauge goes to correct temperature . i have replaced the temperature sensor the usual suspect but i am still have the same problem.
Please help Many thanks
Hi All
Merry christmas
Problem solved it turns out it was the thermostat.
I think the car has not been gettng hot enough as the weather has got colder the more the problem occured .
i removed the old one when engine was cold and it was stuck very slightly open so it looks like because the car was running cold even on a long run it was sending mixed messages to the ecu the car now runs great and is a pleasure to drive the added bonus is the heater is 100% better.
Hope this helps someone
Thanks
