When I replaced my fuel filter at 150k I also replaced the original fuel pump. I figured I was running on borrowed time before the fuel pump failed.

That's a good question. I did not see anything obviously awry with the way I installed the new fuel pump, but I took the whole thing inside the house, tore it all apart, and put it all back together very carefully. If I had to guess I would say either the electrical connections were not seated as well as they could have been, or the rubber fuel line (from the top of the fuel pump to the top of the plastic pump casing) was not the right length as I did cut a new section of line from the auto parts store to ensure that the bottom of my new pump was at the exact same height (level vertically) as the old pump. I also tweaked the orientation of the filter that snaps onto the bottom of the pump so that it was pointed in exactly the same direction as the old filter.
