Flasher relay

Post by Kinyata »

Hello,
I own a 1996 Volvo 850. Recently my blinkers and my harzard lights stopped working. I believe it is my falsher relay that needs replacing, because the fuse are not blown. I have a haynes reference manual for Volvo's but it does not address the Flaher relay or where it is located. Can anyone help me in determining where this relay is located. I believe it is under the fuse box, but can only be reached by going under the dash board, however I need to be certain before dismanteling. Thanks

I have found the answer to my own question and I fiqured I would let anyone else that may be interested know that the turn signals and hazzard switch relay are located in the hazzard switch. If your blinkers should go out, this is the switch to replace.

this happened to my S70 the blinker would not blink and the hazard warning light stay on all the while when it was switched on. you don't have to go to the dealer to replace the unit. It is located above the ash tray, the control unit size of a pack of cigarettes behind the hazard on off switch that one with the triangle mark. Get a new switch unit, use the TORX screwdriver from the tool kit, remove the ashtray and you can feet the bottom of it. Push it forward, it might required a little force as there are two metal strip on the sides of the unit to anchore it. When it is out, disconnect the connector at the back, replace, put it back in and you are done!!

did your symptoms occur at random? And it was the switch you replaced not the relay under the dash. Our 850 is having what appears to be the same symptoms...thanks
