'98 S-70: Topping off the tank?

Post by ADK46R »

Being new to Volvo I still have lots to learn. Our other car is a Subaru Outback and it specifically says in the owners manual "do not 'top off' the fuel tank when filling up" - ie once the filler unit detects backflow and shuts down the the flow from the service station pump, don't try squeezing in another gallon or two - "as this can contaminate the charcol filter in the system". So, how about my 1998 S70? Can I "top off" the tank or should I leave it as is when the pump shuts off?

I do a couple times after it turns off - it's never hurt mine as far as I know. Otherwise, the needle doesn't reach all the way to full.

A learning experience is one of those things that says, "You know that thing you just did? Don't do that."
