Constant dash flashing orange arrow
First may I say this site is awesome. Yet I have another question to add to the mayhem. My father in-law owns my previous 1994 850 non turbo sedan, the flashing yellow arrow is constantly on. I have changed tranny button from econ to sport and vise/versa and arrow continues to flash. He asked his mechanic, his reply was to put tape over light.....not a good mechanic I'd say. Anyway does anyone have a suggestion on the problem and is the fix something I can fix for him? Thanks for any reply.....

Stop driving the car, and stop messing with the different transmission settings!
The light indicates a fault in the transmission, more than likely a dead PNP switch. I would never even look in the direction of the mechanic that said to 'put tape over it". You need to get it fixed before you cause irreparable harm by driving it as it!
Good luck!

It might not be as serious as you think. Try rowing the shifter back and forth between P and L about 15-20 times. This will clean the contacts in the PNP switch if that is the problem, which commonly causes that light to turn on. If that doesn't help, pull the codes from port A1 and post back and we'll be glad to help!
