oxygen sensor connector - help!

Post by hethr68 »

Hi, I'm R&Ring an O2 sensor in a 95 850 GLT and am not familiar with the type of connector used for this sensor. I can see that the red tab has to come out to release the connecor halves, but it won't budge (light prying) and I thought I'd log on and get some help before I break the fragile plastic.

Thanks very much for the help.

Okay, I figured it out - not that it's hard but let me share with you so you won't waste a half hour figuring it out when you R&R your o2 sensor. First you release the whole connector assembly from the metal bracket by pushing in the little notched area with a small screwdriver. Then you have to pry up on the red slide-lock part that holds the 2 connector halves together. Mine didn't want to pop out so I ended up using 2 screwdrivers - one on each side and it came up. Then you pull it up as far as it'll go (not all the way out) and the two halves with miraculously part.
