1999 s70 T5 Suspension Struts/Shocks

Post by rrk6075 »

I am looking at upgrading my struts/shocks from the original equipment but am looking for advise on whether to chose Koni or Bilstein.

I have heard positive about both. I am looking for a a striffer yet comfort ride. More sporty.

Any suggestions/comments?

Thanks

Koni Yellows are adjustable in firmness. The front ones can be adjusted while they are on the car, but the back ones must be removed to be adjusted. Bilstein HD's are definitely stiffer and many people say that they're too stiff in places where the roads are in crappy condition, but no doubt that they are a good shock. Others say that while they're stiff, it's not unbearable. Bilstein TC's are another choice you have. They are a tiny bit stiffer than stock (maybe 10%), but are the better choice if you live in a pothole and bump filled area.

Many people are very happy going with Koni Yellow's up front and Bilstein HD's in the back. This setup also gives the car a more aggressive stance b/c the Bilsteins will raise the rear of the car about 15 mm from what I've heard. If you want to retain a near stock ride height or even slightly lower, it would be wise to combine the aforementioned setup with Eibach springs.
