Looking to buy an 850 T5 R

Post by gord2k »

Looking at purchasing 95' 850 R and was wondering if there's anything particular to this car that I should be made aware of. Furthermore, is there any difference between the 95's and other years? Any comments appreciated...

The T5-R was made only in 1995. Only 5000 of them were produced; the majority of them stayed in Europe. You will have a hard time finding one, especially one for sale. They came mostly in yellow or black, though 20 something Dark green ones, 11 pure white pre-production models, and 20 pearl white promotional models were made. The 850R was made in '96 and '97 and are a bit more common. The only difference b/t the '95 models and the '96 & '97 are the lack of EGR on the latter and the '95 had Bosch Motronic 4.3 as where the later models had version 4.4. The '95 also has a different ABS system and a different outlet/flange on the turbo/downpipe. When you look at the car, check underneath to make sure the rear main seal isn't leaky. The 850R has a different rear spoiler from the T5-R, but the front spoiler is the same on the two models, and differs from the regular models.
