That may be the case. But reading along the thread about this mod, someone mentioned he got a CEL reading "P0420 Rear Bank Sensor Effieciency Error" after setting the valve to cai position. This sounds like my CEL P0422. Unfortunately no one picked this point for an explaination on the reason... I am thinking there may be some side effect associated to cold air flow now being constantly into the system. I am not completely sure exactly how the process works.
You see, this is what I would like to figure out: Now the cai is always on, what happen to the hot air in the al duct connected to the the air box. Should it be disconnected?...then what?
I never had indication of something amiss with my cat and/or the 2 O2 sensors before. I should mention I had my cat + the 2 sensors replaced some 5 years. My emissions readings have been throughout.
Can you perhaps think of anything else the P0422 might be attributed to based on your experience ?
Thanks,
jmmxc

Starting a new thread may help bring more attention to your problem; in addition, a new thread would better conform to the forum rules as this thread deals exclusively with the air box modification, not the problems one might encounter afterwards. :D

If the s40 has the same setup then there should be no reason why this mod wouldn't work. Jmmxc, I didn't mean to tick you off or anything. Like I said if you start a new thread more people are likely to see it. :D

No problem.
Before I do, let me go over some more threads. Someone may have something on it already.

S40 has a turbo. This modification only applies to NA cars.

The s40 turbos have a turbo but the NA s40's don't. If you have an NA engine this mod should work, although I don't know if the s40's have the same cold air/hot air set up as the 850's do.

All first gen (2000-2004) S40s that came to the US were turbos and this information does not apply to them. The new Ford Focus based S40s don't have this device either, including the rare non turbos.

The first gen s40's were from 95 to 2004. I have a friend w/ a 2.4 NA s40 and she is in the United States.
