Hello all,
I'm having issues with my ABS/TRAC light on my 95 turbo. Once I hit around 18 mph the lights usually come on. Sometimes, they don't, but usually I hear the ABS kick, and then the lights come on.
I pulled the codes and am receiving a 443. I thought that code was for the ABS relay - but after I put a new relay in, clear the codes and go for a drive, the lights come back on and the error code 443 comes back.
Any other thoughts? My cruise control doesn't work - don't know if it ever did, but wasn't sure if it was related. Probably not - but will through it out there.
Thanks,
Dale

The 4-4-3 code says that the pump has failed. That may or may not be true. The pre-'96 ABS systems are quite robust but the modules on those models can fail as well and give you a false reading. The good news is that, since the older versions rarely fail, they are quite cheap. I have seen the entire underhood systems, including the module, for under $100.00 on eBay.

My ABS module failed. There are quite a few sources of info on this but basically you'll need a module ($350 or less at FCP Groton) and a torx socket ($3.00). I replaced my module in less than 1 hour. I'm not a mechanic. Problem solved. ABS and traks working fine. I just tried to skid on my mountain road this weekend and everything works fine. Get it fixed. You never know when you're going to need those anti-lock brakes.

I've seen a few of these with really nasty insulation on the motor leads.
Sometimes the the insulation cracks away entirely! If that's the case,
your module may be seeing a short on the output to the motor.
Look for two 14 gauge wires, a couple of inches long, that run from
the module to the motor. Be sure that they're looking good.

I replaced the modulator and relay - drove around the block, the ABS and TRAC lights came back on.
On Lee's advise (Thanks!!), I bought a used pump, relay and mod off ebay (it was all together). After putting it in - problem solved. No codes or lights - ABS and TRAC work.
I'll check the old unit to see if it could have been a while..it wouldn't have been the first time I went fishing with a bazooka.
Bring on the slick roads!

Sounds like almost as much fun as Weeding your Lawn with a Cruise Missile.
Glad to here you got it fixed. ABS can be a real lifesaver!
