V70 T5 engine compression value

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

V70 T5 engine compression value

Post by ambi »

Hi folks,
Hi Folks,
Anybody knows what is the proper engine compression value or range for the V70 T5(1998) engine. I have a dastek unichip installed which piggy backs on the original chip. I brought my car for some tuning and they told me that my compression values are low (each cylinder is between 7.5 to 9).
I was told that it should be between 9 to 11. The tuning workshop told me nothing can be done until a full overhaul of the engine is done. My car is only six years old.
Does it really require a complete overhaul ? Or just changing the piston rings will do ? Should I go for a second opinion somewhere ?
