unichipped V70 T5

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

unichipped V70 T5

Hi Guys,
I just chipped my 1998 V70 T5 with a Unichip. This chip is actually piggybacked on the original chip.
I had expected that the sound of the engine would be the same after chipping. But now I am hearing a hissing sound every time i accelerate. The guy who chipped and dynoed it said the turbo boost has been increased. And that if the boost is decreased the power will be redused.
My question is does the turbo boost need to be increased hand in hand with the chip tuning ? And also I am hearing the whining sound more. Probably its coming from the turbo too.
Can the chip tuning be done without increasing the boost.
The hissing sound is quite annoying.

I dont know lots of folk who own a turbo Volvo and who doesnt just love the sound of the turbine! I miss my old 740ti loud hissing high pressure Garrett.

The turbo is a major component to the performance of these engines. without it, they are sluggish. It is only natural that the chip will concentrate mainly on the turbo control to gain HP. Your turbo is spooling up faster at lower RPM = instant HP + dB.
I would assume your turbo hoses and stuff are in good condition and well tight.

i wouldn't recommend piggybacking your ecu, because when you increase the boost, you need to increase the fuel, that's why so many companies have the whole ecu replacement, because it remaps the fuel and increases the boost and some other stuff
