2002 V70 transmission slipping

Post by andrew135 »

Hi, I'm a new member but I been around Volvo's my whole life thanks to my father.I bought my first V70 in December for my growing family,I love the car but the auto tranny slipps from 3rd to 4th under hard to moderate acceleration is there any thing I could do to fix it? or do I have to replace it? The car has 98,000 miles on it. Thanks I would appreciate any feed back ! Andrew135

Hello, Very briefly, Check with a dealer to see if the TCM has the latest downloads. I believe there are several so I won't state my download part number at this time. Then check the condition of your fluid. 3309 ONLY-Mobil makes it. Toyota Type IV is the same stuff. Either is vastly cheaper than Volvo's. You can drain and fill the sump three times or let the car pump it out. The methods are well posted on this board. The download cured 95% of my woes. Two sump drains helped smooth things out too. Let us know what you do and how it turned out. Kira

b4 servo cover also possible, but less likely

I would agree - make sure you have the latest TCM software and fresh fluid in the tranny. Then check the B4 servo, last thing would be the valve body solenoid.

Dealer only for siftware

Current TCM?
Your TCM is the computer, there are no upgrade computers
