Patch Hole In Carpet

Thought I would share my latest fix. The left front carpet of my wife's S60 tore, actually the heal of her shoe punched a hole in it. Well, as time went on the hole enlarged until, prior to my latest fix it was about 2.5in in diameter. My first thought was to sew it closed. But after removal of the carpet I realized that the carpet is made up of a rubber like membrane with the carpet thread molded into it and nothing for the thread to hold to.
So here is how I fixed it. I'm glad to say that the fix has held up for over a month so I thought I would share.
I failed to get a picture of the hole prior to starting the repair, Sorry about that.

st I located my roll of carpet tape. (You can get the tape at most hardware stores or anywhere that sells carpet.) Cut 3pcs about 6in in length. Using my heat gun I heated the glue until evenly melted.

Once heated I placed over damaged area and pressed into place

For added protection I added 2 more pcs and in a cross hatch pattern

The final outcome is a almost unnoticeable.
