S40 timing belt- crank bolt?

Post by AlanS »

2001 S40- The instructions say to remove the crank pulley with an impact driver. I do not have any power tools. Should I now forget to attempt this job? Is there a 'go around'?

You can use a chain wrench around the crankshaft pulley to keep it from moving. This link shows a picture of it.

I'm not sure if this applies to your car, but scroll down in this thread for directions on how to make a tool to hold the pulley while you loosen the nut with a socket wrench: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 61#p114461
