2004 XC70 STC/DSTC button

While discussing tire spinning on our XC 70 a friend told us that the problem could be addressed by simply turning off STC. Though I find it in the manual, our vehicle does not have the STC/DSTC button on the center console. I caled the dealer and he said that if it doesn't have the button then it can be accessed by turning the computer on the turn signal until DSCT language appears in the text. I sat in the car as he led me through this process but no such language appears in the text box, rather the messages relate only to mileage and fuel. He said "that doesn't sound right" and suggested I stop in some time. He also says that this was not an "option" and it should be there. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
