The Volvo Store - Winter Park, FL

Post by VCA »

The Volvo Store is a longtime dealer here in the Orlando area (I remember driving by them when I was a kid). My experiences with them have been good--their service department is quick, courteous, and the techs knowledgeable. Lou, the Assistant Service manager, is always willing the chat if you have questions, and the gentlemen that staff the parts counter are first rate. I've seen the service writers handle customers, and they are very knowledgeable without being condescending. Labor is about $15 more than the independent european car repair places ($95/hour versus ~$80), with parts on par with the indys (at least when we're comparing genuine Volvo parts).

If it wasn't for the very good independent garage I normally use (Cech Brothers, also in Winter Park), I'd probably opt for them as my primary shop...currently I use this dealer for a) repairs that require VIDA or b) unexpected issues when I need a loaner and can't change my schedule to have the car serviced (like my recent ETM failure).

It's nice to have, not one, but two places nearby who deals with Volvo's competently and reasonably. Some of us are not so lucky.

The Volvo store is a joke, the service dept, is ignorant
(as most dealers are)
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Yeah, I suppose I should update this review. The service dept told me that there was no way to turn off the DRLs (I got a 3 day VIDA subscription and downloaded the software to turn them off), when I bought the car CPO, they had to give me two keys and only had one, but failed to deprogram the old one (so the car had 3 keys programmed, but only 2 in my hands--bought a 3rd key from Volvo of Dallas and removed all keys/reprogrammed the 3 keys with VIDA). They also told me when I bought my car that I couldn't put Sat radio in the car because it didn't show "Sat Prep" in VRC2; the car had Premium audio and already had the RDAR (sat radio) installed  [dealer error in my favor, I suppose.]

Right now, my car's stuck there for a week because the required part is nationally backordered, reminding me that the lack of real service loaners stinks, and that Enterprise (which TVS pays for, at least) isn't all that great at maintaining their cars.
