Trip Computer - Useful?

I am considering upgrading my time / temp trip computer on my '95 850 to the "full bells and whistles" (gas mileage, etc) version but I am not sure how useful / accurate the full version is. Can anyone comment on what functions they find most useful on the full trip computer?

I have your car, and one with the computer.
the computer gives a good general idea of the mileage, and, for me, tallys the mile between oil changes.
for the 850, I record mileage etc on a spreadsheet.
I don't know what one would pay for the upgrade, but the IPD scan tool does all the things the computer does and also reads codes!

I bought one of ebay (~$25) and installed it last week

I like the average gas mileage and miles to zero feature.

I've been calculating gas manually sine Ive had the can and the computer came up with the same value, right around 25 mph.

With info for the repair database, it was easy to install. Wrecked one one my dash speakers though. Going to install new ones later today.
