1983 242 turbo 71g

just looked at a 1983 242 turbo with 71 thousand miles,didn`t
get under the hood yet.i have`nt seen one like this before,the for sale sign on the back seat said it was made in Belgium,any thoughts
things i should look for,is it the same eng trans,turbo as my 760,etc
any feed back would be great,Brad

None of the 1983 models had the B230F/FT engines.

The 242 of that year had a choice of B21A; B21FT; B23E or B23F. The turbo used with the B21FT was the Garrett T3. Gearboxes were M46; BW55; AW70 or, only on the turbo model, AW71. The AW71 is a heavier duty version of the AW70.

One thing to note on the cars from 1983 - the wiring harness is prone to deterioration.

As for where it was made, check the 11th digit of the VIN.
0 = Kalmar, Sweden.
1 = Torslanda, Sweden.
2 = Volvo Europe.
3 = Canada.
