Hello everyone,
I'd like to start by saying,"Thanks for looking" !
As the title states I have a 92 740 wagon,I drive the car about 3 days a week. The last time I parked the car,the blower was working fine on all speeds.I got in yesterday, and I have no lower fan speeds, only 5(max),all the lower settings are inoprative.1-4 fan seeds do nothing.
Is this a symptom that is well known?
I don't have a book on the car,so Ii have no clue if there is 2 blower mootors under the dash or just one.I will say that the Max speed works fine,it's just an all or nothing senario.lol
If anyone has had this trouble before please post up your findings.Or if this is a well known issue, please post the fix.
I was thinking maybe a fuse, but unless there is more than 1 motor,it most likely wouldn't have high speed if the fuse was blown.
Again,,thanks for looking, and for any and all replies.

Two things come to mind. There is a resistor on the blower casing which is used for speeds 1 - 4. There is a blower relay on the case behind the glove box which is used for speed 5.
It would appear that you are having problems with the resistor. The 740 heater blower is easy to access and work on, unlike the 240. Instructions for getting in to it can be found here.
The resistor is mounted in the front lower section of the casing.
Bill.

Hey Bill,
Great to hear from you again..Hope you have been doing well these days.
It does sound as if the resistor would be the culprit if it is used for speeds 1-4..
I'll give a look and see whats up..Thanks for the reply, and as always I will post back my findings and if this was the fix..
Have a great day.
